Shiatsu going beyond massage
Therapeutic acupressure,
where bodywork meets healing
Benefits of Shiatsu
There are many forms of acupressure therapy; Japanese Shiatsu being one of the most prevalent. Shiatsu, literally meaning finger pressure, is a form of acupressure where natural body weight is applied to areas of the body in a deep but gentle and relaxing manner. Shiatsu is used as a therapy to relieve a variety of conditions including: back pain, neck and shoulder problems, stress, insomnia, digestive disorders, fatigue, etc., as well as for pure enjoyment.
As a practitioner of Chinese Medicine I diagnose each individual in order to address the root cause of a condition, thereby more appropriately treating its manifestations. Through my knowledge of Chinese Medicine and years of clinical experience, sessions are deeply therapeutic. When Shiatsu is practiced in this manor, it is a profoundly healing system of bodywork.
A Shiatsu session
Treatments are conducted on a soft matted floor with you comfortably dressed in loose fitting clothes. The session will begin with a brief consultation, a Chinese pulse and an abdominal diagnosis. Depending on the session, the whole body is typically worked: legs, feet, arms, hands, neck, head, back, etc. During the session you will feel a deep sense of relaxation as I gently move you from one position to the next with gentle stretches and rotations. Pressure, along acupuncture points and meridians, is adjusted for each individual and their condition; some requiring strong deep pressure while others gentler softer pressure. Regardless of the pressure the therapeutic benefit will be achieved. Upon conclusion of the session we will discuss your health and I will recommend ways for you to further achieve a complete state of health and well being.
