Cupping Cupping is a therapeutic method whereby suction is applied to the skin surface by attaching a small jar in which a vacuum is created. Heat is introduced into the cup in order to reduce the internal pressure, thereby producing a vacuum. The cup is then inverted on to the skin surface, whereby the cups may be left in place and or slid along the skin surface.
Cupping is a very effective and comfortable treatment technique. It may be used for a variety of conditions, though there are six general areas in which cupping is most commonly applied:
